This website documents the international workshop and conference “Benjamin in Palestine: On the Place and Non-Place of Radical Thought,” to be held in Ramallah/Palestine, December 6-11, 2015.
The conference and workshop is organized by Benjamin scholars, critical theorists, activists and artists from the Middle East, Europe and North America, among them Paula Schwebel, Sami Khatib, Kelly Gawel, Udi Aloni, Sarah Kamens, Lara Khaldi, and Yazan Khalili.
Our initiative stands in solidarity with the nonviolent resistance against the occupation in Palestine.
As a response to and nonviolent means of opposing the ongoing occupation of Palestinian land, the Palestinian civil society calls for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel (BDS) until it complies with international law and universal principles of human rights. We comply with the “Guidelines for the International Academic Boycott of Israel” as a nonviolent means for raising consciousness and pressuring the State of Israel to end its unjust occupation, to recognize the equality and fundamental rights of its Palestinian citizens, and to acknowledge Palestinian refugees’ right of return.
